Fees payable to the tutor for one-to-one online lessons; the fees are based on a standard rate of £35-50 per 1 hour depending on the subject and level being tutored (please see the tutoring services for more information).
No further charges will be made for the tutor’s preparation time or resources, which are included in the standard rate. Please note that this fee is subject to change, but in the event that it does, this will be communicated at least two weeks (14 days) in advance of the changing fee.
Payment can be made in advance or on the day by Paypal or Bank Transfer.
Blocks of lessons can be paid in advance by Paypal or Bank Transfer.
This information will be given when a contract/agreement is accepted by both student and tutor. A phone number will also be provided to the student/parent/guardian to allow quicker communication. All contact and bank information must remain confidential between the two parties. It should not be given to any third parties.
Should you wish to cancel or reschedule any lessons, you must provide at least 12 hours advanced warning otherwise payment will still be required. This is payment for time and resources that would have otherwise been wasted. See below for more details.
Lesson schedule: tutoring sessions are booked in for 60 minutes (1 hour) unless a block booking (2 hours) has been scheduled. Should the session exceed this time through no fault of the student, no additional fees will be charged. Should the student want any additional time after the tutoring session, and the tutor’s schedule allows, this can be charged at any additional £10 per 10 minutes.
Cancellation of lessons:
Via the Student: the student can cancel a lesson, giving at least 12 hours notice, in which case no fee will be charged for that lesson. If insufficient notice is not given – fees may still be charged. Rescheduled lessons should be requested within 12 hours notice to allow a schedule check.
Via Illness: If either the student or the tutor has an illness as much notice as is possible and a brief outline of circumstances should be given. We all get ill through no fault of their own, so you should not feel obligated to sit through a tutoring session, but again please get in touch as soon as possible.
Via the Tutor: In exceptional circumstances, a lesson may have to be rescheduled, in which case the Tutor will give as much notice to the student/parent as is possible. Where a lesson was pre-paid, the tutor shall reschedule the appointment at a time agreeable to both parties, failing which, the student will be refunded the lesson amount.
No-Shows: should a student fail to join a lesson, a reminder will be sent out within the first 5-6 minutes. If the student fails to show 15 minutes into the lesson, the lesson will be cancelled and full payment will be taken (no refund or reschedule permitted). Leniency may be given to extend this limit to 20 minutes of lesson time but this is up to the Tutor.
Should the student arrive late, no additional time will be given – thus if the student turns up 10 minutes late, they will be permitted to 50 minutes of tuition at full pay.
Obligations: the tutor will do all preparations prior to lessons and to structure lessons in such a way as to optimise time to the benefit of the student. The tutor shall keep confidential all information of the student and shall contact other parties involved in the education of the student only if given written permission by the parent to do so.
The student should be assisting the tutor in identifying problem areas in which the student needs specific tutoring. They should notify the tutor if their method of tutoring is not working for them, or if they do not understand the content that is being tutored. The tutor will always ask if a student understands the content, it is up to the student to be open and honest about their understanding and current knowledge.
No warranties: the tutor makes no promises or warranties with regards to a student’s performance as a result of any tutoring provided. This tutoring contract may be terminated by either party at any time by notifying the other party. A parent/guardian shall enter into this tutoring contract on behalf of the student and shall accept and agree to all the terms and conditions contained herein on behalf of the Student.
